Ingredients
For Manchurian Balls
- ½ medium cabbage – grated
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies – finely sliced
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander – finely chopped
- 2–3 tbsp cornflour (adjust as needed)
- Salt – to taste
- 2 tsp water (only if needed)
- Oil – for deep frying
For Manchurian Gravy
- 1 tbsp ginger – finely chopped
- 1 tbsp garlic – finely chopped
- 2–3 green chilies – finely chopped
- ¼ cup spring onion (green leaves + bulb) – finely chopped
- ¼ cup cabbage – finely chopped
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp green chili sauce
- 1 tsp tomato ketchup
- ½ tsp vinegar
- 2 tsp cornflour + ¼ cup water (slurry)
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt – to taste (use less, as soy sauce already has salt)
Method of Preparation
Step 1: Prepare the Manchurian Balls
- In a bowl, add grated cabbage, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, coriander, salt, and cornflour.
- Mix everything well into a sticky mixture. Add just 2 tsp water if needed.
- Shape small round balls and keep them aside.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the balls until golden brown. Remove and drain on tissue paper.
Step 2: Prepare the Gravy
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Add finely chopped ginger, garlic, green chilies, and spring onions. Sauté for a minute.
- Add finely chopped cabbage and stir-fry on high flame.
- Add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, and vinegar. Mix well.
